Gifts That Keep Giving

This past weekend, a special gift fell through the letterbox – a CD airmailed from the southern hemisphere. It is particularly special as it features a small choir I had belonged to some years back – directed by a very talented young musician, a close friend.

I curled up on the sofa to enjoy listening – enriching and restorative – a reminder of so many life experiences.

Reflecting on the concept of gifts inspired me to think about personal gifts and attributes – the innate talents “gifted” to us at birth. In contrast to what was available by way of personal development in my youth, today we have tools and coaching methodologies readily available to help us recognise, acknowledge and develop our innate gifts. When we are in the flow of our natural ways of thinking, behaving and feeling, we are empowered to share our gifts in ways that enhance the lives of both ourselves and those whose lives we touch.

Often seen as a luxury, coaching enables the deepening of self-awareness and appreciation for who one is innately and, when we actively practice the habit of gratitude for these gifts, they become gifts that keep giving to the world at large.
