Ignorance is Bliss
Learning – going from not knowing to beginning to know and thus to knowing.
An interesting aspect of learning is being comfortable with NOT knowing. It’s something I recall from early schooling – feeling incredibly uncomfortable about not having the right answer to a question – somehow I was “stupid” or an “idiot” because I couldn’t respond correctly.
And it took years of maturing to acknowledge the value of not knowing, which stimulates curiosity and, even more importantly, comfort with the process of gradually gaining wisdom and in-depth knowledge of a subject.
So today, I would like to celebrate the capacity we have to keep learning – an aspect of life that keeps us curious, engaged and connected. Another way to look at the saying “Ignorance is Bliss”.
