Mindfulness

Frustration is generally a challenge to manage. Being prevented from doing what we planned; from accessing something that seems important in the moment; when someone does not respond timeously to a request - or even waking in the middle of the night for no apparent reason – so many possible aspects of life that refuse to go “our way”.

What makes our way the best way for life to unfold? Maybe it is the energy it takes when we build up a momentum to achieving some goal and, on encountering road blocks that impede progress, have to redirect? Or any one of other multiple possibilities?

The practice of mindfulness is one of the really effective ways of managing frustration because it focusses attention on what IS in the moment rather than how things SHOULD be according to Self. Mindfulness beyond the practice of meditation – mindfulness in every moment takes one right away from expectations and brings one fully into what is actually taking place in the moment and allows one to respond immediately rather than on automatic. Nothing new for those that practice mindfulness – however, I hope an encouragement to anyone contemplating exploring this as a way of managing life, particularly with the extra challenges most of us currently face.
