Snow in April?

Having had one of the hottest March days since 1968, now snow in April! Yet another opportunity to manage the surprising and unexpected. Some manage to swivel or pivot, while others struggle to accept and adapt to externally imposed change.

We use the word “stress” very generally to describe the experiences of overwhelm. From another perspective, stress can be seen as the reaction of the individual to anything in excess of what can be comfortably managed or controlled – and it manifests uniquely for the individual, in any or all of several domains: for example

1.      Physically

2.      Emotionally

3.      Intellectually

4.      Philosophically

5.      Socially

Self-care revolves around being aware of the impact external factors have on one specifically and developing techniques for conserving adequate resources that enable one to manage the unique, unexpected and even bizarre occurrences of life. By creating enough internal self-assurance to know that, even if one does not have the answer immediately, by giving oneself resources such as time, calm or time with trusted others to process, one will manage the necessary adaptation to enable accommodation of the change and therefore lessen the stress.
